Utilities Race to Serve Massive Data Center Power Growth

Industrial Info Resources reports that planned North American data center infrastructure has grown to more than $5 trillion in tracked project value. The figure includes buildings, electrical and mechanical systems, site power and project-owned generation, while excluding servers, racks and GPUs. Utilities are responding to unusually rapid load growth by planning new generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure. The project pipeline extends well into the next decade and beyond. The scale of the buildout is creating sustained demand for substations, switchgear, transformers, distribution equipment, backup generation, controls and the contractors needed to install and commission those systems.
