Lark Electric, a Kentucky commercial and industrial electrical contractor with more than six decades of history, has joined American Gridwork Partners in a strategic partnership announced September 3.
Founded in 1963 and based in Owensboro, Lark provides electrical construction and related services across the region. The company has also expanded through earlier acquisitions, including May Electric in 2023.
Under the new partnership, Lark will retain its operating identity, existing workforce and customer relationships. Ross Hyland will continue to lead the company as CEO. Charles Hughes and Terry Cooney are being elevated to executive roles focused on division growth, performance and community development.
American Gridwork Partners said the transaction will provide Lark with additional resources for regional expansion. Planned investment areas include industrial automation, energy infrastructure and workforce development.
The partnership also places Lark inside a larger infrastructure platform serving the Southeast and Ohio Valley. American Gridwork Partners is assembling businesses involved in electrical systems and other physical infrastructure required by industrial, utility and technology customers.
Lark’s work includes commercial and industrial electrical construction. Its new parent platform said the contractor will continue operating with its existing leadership rather than being absorbed into a different brand.
The announcement was released alongside American Gridwork Partners’ broader expansion involving additional infrastructure companies. The Lark transaction was separately reported by Business Wire syndication and other financial-news outlets on September 3 and 4.
