Electrical Project Manager Opportunity
A confidential electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager for its Raleigh, NC market. This position is responsible for leading commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, hospitality, aerospace, tenant-improvement, and other complex electrical construction projects from preconstruction and award through completion and closeout. The successful candidate will combine strong electrical construction knowledge with project planning, financial management, leadership, client communication, and disciplined cost and schedule control.
Experience
5+ years of electrical construction project management experience is preferred, with a strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical construction. Candidates should be comfortable managing projects from approximately $500,000 to $20 million or more, including budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, change orders, purchasing, subcontract management, billing, cost control, client relations, and project closeout. Design-build and design-assist experience is valuable.
Responsibilities
- Manage electrical construction projects from preconstruction and award through completion and closeout.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, procurement plans, and project milestones.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule, cost, productivity, quality, and coordination challenges.
- Coordinate project activities with owners, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, field supervisors, and internal support teams.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, job cost projections, and overall financial performance.
- Develop scopes for purchase orders, subcontract agreements, material packages, and vendor commitments.
- Identify, document, price, submit, and negotiate change orders and additional work opportunities.
- Manage project billing, documentation, contract requirements, collections support, and closeout procedures.
- Lead project teams including field supervisors, foremen, project engineers, coordinators, and support personnel.
- Support workforce planning, manpower allocation, safety initiatives, quality standards, and project accountability.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders and provide clear project status communication.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, resolve issues, and protect project profitability.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and support repeat business and long-term client development.
- Mentor project engineers and less-experienced project managers when appropriate.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical project management experience or equivalent electrical construction leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical construction methods, systems, sequencing, and field operations.
- Proven ability to manage electrical projects ranging from approximately $500,000 to $20 million or more.
- Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, job cost control, and profitability management.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, schedules, subcontracts, purchasing, billing, and change order management.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and project requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
- Experience with Procore, Accubid, Bluebeam, or comparable construction and electrical software platforms is preferred.
- Design-build, design-assist, healthcare, industrial, commercial, hospitality, aerospace, institutional, or tenant-improvement experience is beneficial.
