Electrical Estimator Opportunity
An Electrical Estimator is sought for the Philadelphia, PA market. This role is responsible for analyzing electrical construction drawings, specifications, bid requirements, vendor and subcontractor quotations, and project scope to prepare complete and competitive cost estimates. The estimator will develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontract pricing; complete detailed takeoffs; prepare bid proposals; document estimating assumptions; and coordinate with project stakeholders throughout the bidding process.
Experience
2+ years of electrical estimating, electrical engineering, or closely related electrical construction experience is preferred. Candidates should understand electrical estimating techniques, cost control, material pricing, takeoffs, bid preparation, and deadline-driven proposal work. Experience with battery systems, fiber, automation, controls, or related specialty electrical systems is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed electrical construction cost estimates from project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
- Prepare labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, vendor, and other project cost components.
- Complete detailed electrical quantity takeoffs using estimating software and electronic construction documents.
- Review bid specifications, drawings, addenda, scope requirements, and subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare and submit complete bid proposals while meeting project requirements and proposal deadlines.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, purchasing, field operations, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to improve estimate accuracy.
- Prepare estimate summaries and supporting documentation identifying costs, assumptions, exclusions, qualifications, and pricing rationale.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, and project site visits when required.
- Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability concerns, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of electrical material pricing, labor requirements, estimating methods, and market conditions.
- Manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of electrical estimating, engineering, or similar electrical construction experience preferred.
- Four-year degree, technical education, apprenticeship background, or equivalent combination of electrical construction training and experience.
- General knowledge of electrical estimating techniques, cost control, labor requirements, and material pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements.
- Experience completing electrical takeoffs and preparing detailed cost estimates.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving, time-management, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with electrical estimating software and digital takeoff platforms is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Battery, fiber, automation, controls, or specialty electrical systems experience is a plus.
