Electrical Controls Project Manager Opportunity
A confidential electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Project Manager for its Durham, NC market. This opportunity is intended for a proven electrical construction professional who can take ownership of controls responsibilities while supporting safe execution, strong customer service, disciplined project controls, and profitable growth. The successful candidate will combine practical electrical construction knowledge with sound judgment, organization, communication, and leadership.
Experience
5+ years of project management or technical experience with electrical controls, building automation, industrial controls, instrumentation, or related systems is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage controls projects from planning and procurement through installation, startup, commissioning, and closeout.
- Coordinate control panels, devices, instrumentation, power requirements, communications, and interfaces.
- Manage submittals, RFIs, schedules, change orders, procurement, documentation, and financial performance.
- Coordinate with field teams, controls technicians, programmers, engineers, vendors, and customers.
- Review drawings and sequences of operation for scope, constructability, and interface requirements.
- Track testing, startup, commissioning, punch-list, and turnover activities.
- Identify integration risks between electrical, mechanical, controls, and owner systems.
- Maintain strong customer communication throughout project execution.
Qualifications
- Experience with controls, building automation, industrial automation, instrumentation, or related systems.
- Project management experience appropriate for the role.
- Ability to read control diagrams, electrical drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation.
- Strong technical coordination, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commissioning and system-integration experience is beneficial.
- Electrical construction background is highly valuable.
