EC&M reports that its 2026 Top 50 Electrical Contractors reached a record $80.4 billion in combined 2025 revenue. Data center construction was a dominant driver, while more than 80% of surveyed contractors reported labor shortages. The combination of rapid market growth and limited skilled labor is putting pressure on contractors to improve productivity, workforce planning and project execution. Material costs, equipment availability and construction schedules remain additional constraints. The industry’s revenue growth demonstrates strong demand, but the report also shows that contractors must manage capacity carefully as increasingly large projects compete for electricians, supervisors, estimators and project managers.
