Electrical Contractor Profile Shows Broad Low-Voltage Participation

Electrical Contractor Magazine’s 2026 Profile of the Electrical Contractor documents how widely contractors now participate in low-voltage and systems work. The report says 95% of respondents perform some type of low-voltage work, including fiber optics, networking, lighting controls and structured wiring. About one-quarter have a separate low-voltage division, with larger contractors more likely to operate dedicated groups. Systems integration and data-center-related work remain important parts of the market. The survey provides a broad view of how electrical contractors are expanding beyond traditional power wiring as buildings and infrastructure require more communications, controls and integrated technology systems.
