Construction has started on 11 kilometers of new 132 kV transmission lines in Perth's northern suburbs as part of Western Australia's Clean Energy Link-North project.
The work includes six kilometers of 132 kV transmission between the Padbury and Wangara substations. Another five kilometers will connect the Northern Terminal with the Henley Brook substation.
Acciona is performing the transmission-line construction. The line work is scheduled for completion by mid-2027.
The broader Clean Energy Link-North program is intended to move renewable electricity from projects in Western Australia's Mid West region into the Perth metropolitan area. Government officials say the infrastructure will enable more than 1 GW of onshore wind power.
More than 400 local jobs are expected during construction. The work follows Western Australia's announcement of $1.4 billion in funding for a Clean Energy Fund supporting decarbonization projects.
The project is now in active construction rather than planning. Utility Magazine's September 2 report and its current project coverage confirm the line lengths, voltage, contractor and construction schedule.
