Colorado announced that a major grid project was selected for $250 million in funding to strengthen a connection between two major U.S. power grids. The project is intended to improve reliability, increase transfer capability and reduce the risk of outages. Large transmission and interconnection projects require substantial electrical construction, including substations, high-voltage equipment, protection and control systems and transmission infrastructure. The announcement is part of a broader national effort to expand grid capacity as electricity demand rises and new generation resources are connected.
