Construction Backlog Rebounds as More Firms Win Data Center Work

Construction Dive reports that contractor backlog increased in August, with data center work helping support activity while some other construction segments softened. Associated Builders and Contractors reported an average backlog of 8.5 months. Contractors with data center work reported stronger backlog than firms without it. The figures reinforce the growing role of mission-critical construction in the nonresidential market. Data centers require large electrical scopes, including utility interconnections, substations, medium-voltage distribution, generators, UPS systems, controls and extensive branch distribution. The continuing project pipeline is supporting demand for contractors with the labor and technical capabilities to execute these complex facilities.
